U.S. Civil Affairs and Elite Chadian Antiterrorism Forces Strengthen Ties During Training in N'Djamena

This bilateral exchange brought U.S. Civil Affairs soldiers together with elite Chadian forces in the capital city to share best practices, enhance operational coordination, and reinforce a shared dedication to regional security and stability across the Sahel.

Throughout the multi-week engagement, U.S. and Chadian forces trained side-by-side to improve tactical readiness and master specialized civil-military skills. The collaborative curriculum integrated several critical disciplines such as civil engagement - best practices to build community trust; civil reconnaissance - gathering data on local needs to support community development and mitigate regional vulnerabilities; and tactical combat casualty care - life-saving battlefield medical skills to increase operational survivability.

“This training represents a significant milestone in our relationship with Chad’s antiterrorism forces,” said U.S. Army Capt. Ashley Johnson, 91st Civil Affairs Battalion. “Exchanging knowledge and expertise enhances our ability to achieve shared regional goals.”

JCETs serve as a cornerstone of Special Operations Command Africa’s (SOCAFRICA) partnership-focused strategy. This cooperative model focuses on building the long-term capacity of trusted partner nations to proactively manage security threats within their own borders.
