Nigerian military kills forty Boko Haram terrorists

(MENAFN) Nigeria’s armed forces eliminated at least 40 Boko Haram militants during aerial operations conducted over a two-day period earlier this week in the northeastern state of Borno, according to official accounts.

As stated in reports, the air campaign targeted Boko Haram positions on Thursday and Friday, with aircraft striking multiple locations identified as militant strongholds.

The same accounts indicated that around 40 fighters were killed during the strikes, while additional members of the group sustained injuries.

Nigeria has been battling Boko Haram and allied extremist factions since 2009. The prolonged insurgency has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and forced large numbers of civilians to flee their homes across Nigeria, as well as in neighboring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger, according to reports.
